Employee Highlights

As we grow in 2022, Kenect is adding new people to the team, and with demand for texting still strong, we show no signs of slowing down.

Kenect is recognized as one of the top emerging technology companies in North America. We received several honors in the past year, including being named 36 on the Deloitte Technologies Fast 500 list. This is the highest ranking in the state of Utah.

With more growth expected in the next few months, we are adding new team members nearly every week. Today we want to introduce you to Caitlyn Knudsvig.

What is your role at Kenect?

Frontend Software Engineer.

What is your favorite part about Kenect?

Hands down the overall culture and the people I work with.  My team is so supportive, fun to talk to and easy to work with. 10/10 would work with again.

What have you learned during your time with Kenect?

SO MANY THINGS - an entire JavaScript library (React.js), data-fetching library (React Query), how to write unit tests with Jest and React Testing Library, how to write Cypress tests, form-state management libraries like React Final Form and Redux, general utility/helper packages (ie= Lodash).  Probably more things, it's crazy how much I've learned this past year at Kenect.

On top of all the programing-related things I mentioned, I've also learned how to have a healthier work/life balance.  Being able to take time off without feeling guilty, and not feeling pressured to work after-hours or on weekends has helped my mental health and prevents me from burning out like I would at previous companies.

What is your favorite activity?

Giving people presents - I absolutely love the feeling of making other people happy, whether it's cooking for them, or adding an emoji picker to our web app, or surprising them with an interesting object - I just love making people happy.  (That sounded less cheesy in my head but I stand by it).

What is your favorite movie or TV show?

I watch a ton of sitcoms and anime, but I think my all-time favorite TV show is “How I Met Your Mother.”  I've literally lost count at how many times I've rewatched that series.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I play a lot of video games (PC mainly, a few on the Switch, though). I also like yoga and spin classes, paddleboarding, snorkeling and soon I'll be scuba diving (I get my certification in a couple months).  I have two dogs and I love taking them to the dog park so I can maximize my interactions with as many dogs as possible.

Something interesting about yourself?

I used to be a Ginger. My hair was bright red as a kid and started turning brown when I hit 5th grade.  My freckles faded as I got older, but my hair is still naturally curly.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go, and why?

Traveling sounds exhausting, I'll stay here in St. Petersburg.
